Structure
The technocracy of Oreíchalkos is a complicated system of many gears and parts. It is a Republic, but governmental positions are chosen by technological innovation and portfolios, not political merit. The ten founders of the technocracy each chose two men to join them. This formed the first Cabinet. From there, the members are voted in or out by the cabinet by a merit score which is calculated with a secret tablature known as the codex. If any member of society reaches a higher merit score than a cabinet member they are called to service in order to fulfill their duties. Many people will spend their lives inventing objects to increase their score, but only breakthroughs of invention and acts of Humility are awarded points. The highest merit member of the cabinet is designated Master Inventor and can choose two non-cabinet members to elevate to his right and left hand (cabinet positions). While originally there were 11 members there are now 267 members.
History
The nation was founded after the invaders of Mechanus were driven out of the country and the inventors and creatives of the revolution were given a small portion of land by The CopperSun Coalition for their hand in the army's propaganda campaign. After the army mysteriously disappeared during the 7th Horizon, the inventors scrambled to claim the remaining land.
