Sky bird
The sky bird is a small pure white bird. It is rarely seen landing on the ground, as it prefers high places like trees or tall buildings, which is how it got its name.
No one has ever seen the sky bird eat anything but plants, which combined with its pure white color, makes it a clean and innocent bird in most peoples eye. For the same reason, the sky bird is also one of the symbols for Colibri, the goddess of nature and healing.

Basic Information
Anatomy
The sky bird is a relatively small and slender bird. Like all birds, it has two wings. Its beak is short and pointy. Both its legs and beak are white like the rest of its body.
Biological Traits
Although it is not a predatory bird, it has a sharp beak, which it utilizes to scrape bark off of trees.
Genetics and Reproduction
When a sky bird takes a mate, it is for life. If either mate dies prematurely neither will attempt to find a new one.
When a female sky bird sets out to find a mate, it starts chirping a unique melody. Nearby males will then try to mimic her melody and land near her. He then continues chirping while slowly approaching her. If she stops before he reaches her, it means he failed to mimic her melody, and he will fly off.
The female begins chirping the melody again until another male attempts to synchronize with her.
This continues until the female finds a male that adequately mimics her song. When that happens the male will be able to approach her, and initiate mating. The couple will continue chirping their song until the mating is over.
Some consider this a bittersweet endeavor, as the mating song will never be heard again, as the sky bird mates for life. Especially if the pair had a very beautiful melody, it is considered sad that it will never be heard again.
After mating, the female will start laying eggs. It lays between five to ten eggs, at a rate of one per day. It does not start hatching the eggs until it has laid all of them.
While the female is hatching the eggs, the male makes sure she is well fed, and also tends to the nest if it suffers damage of any kind.

Growth Rate & Stages
After the eggs have hatched both the male and female will gather food and feed the chicks. This goes one for around three weeks at which point the chicks are ready to leave the nest. The parents usually continue to feed them for a week or two after that, until they're fully self-sufficient, at which point they will leave for good.
Ecology and Habitats
It always stays in high places. This means it is mostly seen in forests and large cities with a lot of tall buildings and towers.
Dietary Needs and Habits
It only eats plants, mostly buds, and leaves from the trees. Additionally, it happily eats the bark of some trees by using the sides of its beak to scrape it off.
Biological Cycle
When the weather gets cold the sky bird is often seen leaving the cities. Strangely it has not been observed leaving the forests, and it is believed that it is able to sustain itself on bark from the trees, and as such can overwinter in the forests.
Additional Information
Domestication
Since the sky bird is a highly intelligent animal, it is often used as a carrier bird for small messages that are attached to its legs. As an added advantage, the sky bird tends to fly a lot higher than any other bird, which reduces the risk of losing a carrier bird to other predatory birds, and also makes it harder to shoot it down for anyone trying to intercept the message.
The message posts are always built at high places, such as towers or city walls.
It is fairly easy to train a sky bird to become a carrier bird. Whenever a sky bird sets out to fly, it will go to the nearest place it knows that is tall and has plenty of food. The trick is to show it two places that are tall, with a lot of food. Whenever the bird is sent out, it will fly to the other place that it knows.
For long-distance messages, it Is not unusual that the message goes through several birds, especially in countries or organizations that have a solid network of towers.
Once a sky bird knows a route, it will also teach it to its offspring, provided the route is not too long, which makes it even more preferable to have shorter routes, as no additional training is necessary for the offspring. The sky bird is capable of flying long distances if needed.

Geographic Origin and Distribution
In temperate areas with tall trees or buildings. Sometimes found in mountains with dense vegetation.
Average Intelligence
The sky bird is considered one of the most intelligent birds. As such it is easily domesticated.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
The sky bird has a very good sense of direction as long as there are tall landmarks to navigate by. On open plains, it can have difficulty navigating, and will generally continue in one direction until something tall shows up that it can navigate by.
Civilization and Culture
History
The Sky bird has been known to exist for as long as any recorded history. Being a symbol for Colibri, one of the The Protectors of The Light, the Sky bird is one of the most throughoutly studied animals, in spite of its elusive nature and desire to avoid the ground.
Lifespan
10 years
Conservation Status
It is generally frowned upon to harm a sky bird in any way, but most countries do not have laws against hunting it.
Average Weight
11 gram
Average Length
11 cm, with a wingspan of around 18 cm.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
