The Tuatha de Danaan book

According to the legend in the year 478 the hermit monk Herbert of Alkar received a vision from Morrigan's avatar who planted in his mind the vision of a tale, that he felt compelled to write down for the future generations to know.

Purpose

Although only fragments of the original narrative have reached the present times, the original purpose of the book was to explain the history and relations within the tribe of Danu. The manuscript of Herbert of Alkar has set the basis for the doctrine for the various clergies across the continent.

Historical Details

Background

This book has setted a cultural reference to unify the habits of the various ethnicities to worship deities that were probably dated back to centuries before. The author probably referred to the Historia phaldoryana in the year 200 of Fidelia le Blanc to give the gods and goddesses the aspect of characters relevant in the history of the continent, so that people could identify in something real but, nevertheless, epic.

Public Reaction

People discovered the book thanks to travelling priests that started to recount the tales reported in the book, during their travels through settlements. In a time where few were able to read this has been of fundamental importance to get a capillary diffusion of the cycle of legends. Later on, some variants in music have been produced by groups of bards contributing to further diffuse the myths in the popular culture. Soon in the various countries of the continent everyone was venerating the same deities, with minimal variations mostly due to mistakes in translitteration.
