Mother of Destiny Memorial
Not long after the death of Karan Nijibutu, the driving force behind the establishment of the new order that is the New Terran Hegemony, zealous party members of the Preservers of the Destiny of Humanity began to clamor for a fitting monument to be erected to her memory. The Council soon ordered that plans for the Mother of Destiny Memorial be drawn up.
Today, over a million Humans visit the memorial each standard year. It is considered a "must see" excursion for any Human visiting the city of Nubuwaires for the first time. It should be noted that the Memorial's policies forbid any non-Human from entering the facility, and any humans that do visit are subject to body scans to ensure no weapons or destructive devices are brought inside.
The statue itself consists of a titanium frame over which bronze plating shaped to form the statue itself was affixed. It stands 100 meters tall, and is roughly 25 meters in diameter at the base where it joins the pedestal. After the statue was complete and all plates welded, an electroplating process was employed to first plate the entire statue in pure silver. A second electroplating of pure gold was then applied, resulting in a statue that gleamed so brightly when sunlit that it seems to emanate its own light.
Three small floors of exhibits are housed in the lower portions of the statue, and a narrow, circular staircase leads to a viewing platform in the statue's head. Openings in the pupils of the statue's eyes allow visitors to look out upon New Terra "through the eyes of Mother Nijibutu, to see the world as she saw it."
The monument is situated in the center of Hegemony Circle, a broad plaza in the center of Nubuwaires, the capital city of New Terra. it faces the imposing building that houses the meeting chambers of the Advisory Council and the executive offices of the First Human. Other key government facilities surround the Circle as well.
The Memorial
The monument that was ultimately decided upon was intended to not simply be a memorial to a deceased political figure; it was to be a testament to the grandeur befitting of the Hegemony and, by extension, Humanity itself. The structure that was built consists of a two-story "pedestal base" upon which was placed a statue depicting Karan Nijibutu, dressed in flowing robes reminiscent of come classical ruler or religious leader, and holding an unrolled scroll as if reading from it. The words, "Declaration of Destiny" on the scroll would be readable by viewers. The hollow construction of the statue would permit its interior, as well as the two floors of space in the pedestal building, to be devoted to a museum depicting the life of Nijibutu, her "great works", and the great works of the Preservers and Hegemony over the years. The entire construction would be titled the Mother of Destiny Memorial.Today, over a million Humans visit the memorial each standard year. It is considered a "must see" excursion for any Human visiting the city of Nubuwaires for the first time. It should be noted that the Memorial's policies forbid any non-Human from entering the facility, and any humans that do visit are subject to body scans to ensure no weapons or destructive devices are brought inside.
Physical Description
The pedestal portion of the building is constructed as a simple block building surrounded by decorative columns. The outer shell of the building as well as the columns are cut from a pure white marble rock quarried on a Hegemony world; the marble is polished to an almost mirror sheen. The statue itself consists of a titanium frame over which bronze plating shaped to form the statue itself was affixed.
