Boulder
Boulder is a system without a principle world. The gravitational effects of both the system star and the massive gas giant have apparently kept rocky planets from forming. Instead, four distinct, dense planetoid belts orbit the system star. Despite the lack of a main planet, Boulder is nevertheless a very important colonial property of New Utopia, for those planetoid belts are rich in metals and other elements needed for modern technology and industry.
Each of the four belts is rich in a different class of mineral resources. The belt closes to the system star is rich in heavy elements, including gold, platinum, mercury, uranium, and lead. The second belt contains many of these as well, though not as heavily concentrated. It is, however, extremely rich in iron, nickel, copper, chronium, and zinc.
Moving beyond the orbit of the massive gas giant which the belters call "Hoover", the third belt is rich in silicates, including a number of exotic forms not found on planets elsewhere that have proven quite useful in electronic applications. Sulfur, aluminum, magnesium, and sodium are also richly deposited, though not as heavily mined as these are relatively common in easier to operate planetary mines on Gloom. The outermost belt is predominantly ice-bearing planetoids, though occasional rich strikes of rare, exotic "specialty" elements have been reported.
