This one is a composite of five different images. (I play both the painter and the spirit-thing.)   I hate writing artist's statements, but in case it isn't obvious, this represents my life-long battle with chronic depression and how art and writing have kept me relatively sane when I feel like I just can't express myself any other way—or when I need to escape.   It's also my homage to Carravagio (one of my favorite painters) and the old vanitas works of the Dutch masters.
