A fully-fledged operative of the Order of St. Berengar the Breadwinner, Grimod is stationed in Cabinet under the guise of a merchant patriarch as part of The Stokers—a temporarily surnamed branch of the Order that adopts vampire-hunting tactics through deep-cover infiltration. His assigned family includes his operational spouse, Lucullia, a fellow full operative, and their two journeyman charges, Anthelme and Savarin, biological brothers undergoing field training under Grimod and Lucullia’s supervision.
Grimod’s present mission (known as a 'Tour'), is to investigate the suspected vampire presence in Cabinet and complete the field development of the two journeymen.
Grimod appears externally severe, but has an equally severe wit and sense of humour. Born with disfigured fingers, he was hidden from public life as a child. In adolescence, during periods of parental absence, he began hosting grotesquely theatrical dinner parties. Initially trained as a theatre critic and lawyer, he was eventually disowned after his own infamous funeral banquet, saying it was "in advance, to see who would attend." Relocated to a monastic setting, he redirected his studies toward culinary philosophy—less the table as performance art, and more the art of the table.
His real name, long and cumbersome, has been discarded in favour of "Grimod" by his peers for practical reasons. He is frequently seen speaking with his Dreadfulness—a manifested entity appearing as a well-dressed anthropomorphic pig named Potbelly. Together, they engage in harsh and fastidious culinary critique. If you should ever receive their invitation to any dining experience, think twice before accepting. Old habits die hard.
