Tale of the gret darkness, and coming to Pennmir.
The lands of ancient Aerdan homeland one were one day suddenly thrust to darkness. Old tales tell of great rumble and land that was shaking, shattering high towers and bridges of the ancient kingdom. A dark clouds came from east and foul smell of burning and death with it.
Aerdan leaders gathered in the Enwarad, the seat of the high Council, to discuss those omnious signs, all but the two brothers. They lived on the western shores of Misty Sea, and were rulers of lands they inherited from their father, wise and great king Ollddoeth.
Older brother, named Nuadd, was warrior and helped his father tame the lands of north. Together they rode in and fought Annun, the others all the way to the northern wastes. Other lesser races were grateful for liberation, and pledged their allegiance to the Ollddoeth and his descendants.
The younger brother was a builder. He learned on the father's court from the wisest and best masters, and he especially liked to build ships. In the father and brother’s absence, he kept watch over the kingdom.
They also had a sister and she was a great healer and skilled with Craft. The legends say she could talk with animals, and was gentle and preferred deep woods and clear streams.
The two brothers shared great love, and felt no jealousy between them, an ode to their wise father and the ways he taught them,
Unfortunately, in one of the last battles, a poisoned arrow found it’s way to the king’s chest, and he succumbed to the foul poison. When the war ended, older brother inherited the kingdom, but he often sought counsel with his learned brother.
When darkness came, and two brothers looked worryingly towards east, where thunder and darkness now resided. After couple of days they noticed, that the leaves on the plants turned pale and sick. The people were also falling to the strange illness, not being able to breathe and sea creatures surfaced dead and decaying. Water in springs and wells turned foul and dirty. They knew that without the food and water they will not survive for long. When the messenger came and invited them to join the Council, the two brothers looked at their people, and decided they will not leave them suffering, and decided to
Then they turned to the gray and unsettled waters of the Misty Sea. Younger brother ordered to raise the ships sails, and all who was able helped to load them with all the food and water they had. 50 ships with 10 000 people embarked on a journey to the west, leaving their dying land behind them.
The journey was periolus, for the seas of Pennmir were dangerous then. Near the land, where you could see the shore was safe enough, but deep waters were home of monsters. Unpredictable streams, sudden surges and walls of water could swallow ships and leave no trace in minutes.
But ancient Aerdan shipwrights and sailors possessed the knowledge to cross deep waters. The legends say their ships were protected by powerful Craft, to ward away sea beasts and carry ships on top of the great waves, safely across Misty Sea, Maer Dewó as they called it.
There are many tales describing how two brothers crossed the Misty Sea. For many months they sailed, in the gray darkness, without the sun to show them the way. No birds were seen in the sky and no fish in the water. Even the great beasts of deep sea have not shown themselves.
They landed on couple of islands, but they were almost barren and hardly they found enough water to replenish their reserves. A furious storms battled them, and a few ships were lost, but they managed to save every and each of their people. Finally, when they were almost left without food or water, a single ray of sun came out of the sky, and they saw distant shores towards the west, covered in lush forests.
They landed on the shores of the continent they named Enador, the First Forest after the first thing they saw on it. It is said that two brothers and a sister each founded a great Kingdoms: where they landed a oldest brother, Nuadd founded Nuaddesh. His brother moved along the shores to the south, and found lush and rich valley of the river Riasídh, which is now called Rianon. Here, on shores of great river he founded a city of Cearnienn. In time this city become a seat of Caernian kingdom. Caernians were great builders and skilled sailors and their ships explored shores of Enador all the way to he secret valleys of Elvenhome.
