Maelis “Mel” Broadbrook
Maelis “Mel” Broadbrook
Race: Halfling
Occupation: Bard, Event Coordinator, Proprietor of the Gilded Harp, and Informal Fixer
Location: The Gilded Harp Tavern , Rozcesti
Description:
Mel is a quick-witted halfling with a roguish smile and an easy charm that draws people in. He has a soft voice made for storytelling, a sharp tongue for negotiation, and a laugh that’s contagious in any tavern. His clothing is practical but stylish—layered vests, polished boots, and a cloak that seems to shimmer just a bit more than it should. A well-loved lute is always nearby, slung across his back or resting beside his seat at the Gilded Harp.
He has tousled auburn curls, usually tucked under a wide-brimmed hat or tied back with a ribbon when he’s in “work mode.” His green eyes are observant and warm, always seeming to catch more than he lets on.
Personality:
- Charming, clever, and deeply connected, Mel serves as a hub of information and opportunity in Rozcesti.
- He has a talent for making people feel seen and heard—an excellent trait for someone who pulls strings behind the scenes.
- Mel is equal parts entertainer and orchestrator, and always seems to know what’s coming before it happens.
Background & Role:
- A former traveling bard, Mel has seen much of Pelora and has the stories to prove it—some sung, some whispered. After years of wandering, he settled in Rozcesti, drawn to its energy and constant flow of newcomers.
- He is now the proprietor of the Gilded Harp, a cozy and welcoming inn that doubles as his stage, workspace, and home base. It is a cornerstone of Rozcesti’s cultural and social life, especially during festivals like Frostfaire.
- Beyond his public role, Mel acts as a quiet fixer, arranging introductions, solving problems, and occasionally brokering secrets when the price—or the reason—is right.
