The Astorium

The Astorium Star Station is a large star station and city in the Vetrifor system, situated around the system's parent star, Vetrie. The station acts as a sort of city consisting of three distinct zones: the Outer Ring (The OR), the Civil Loop (The CL), and the District of Belgor. Currently, an autonomous government, not under the jurisdiction of any other world or entity. The Astorium also lacks any form of a colony or other settlement. It is widely known as a haven for scientific research being the home of inventions such as sky domes and The Hiliofurnace as well as the former home of the great inventor Gelio Grandifone.

The History of The Astorium

The Astorium is a relatively new city only having been recognized by major factions as an independent city within the last 100 years. The Station that the city was built around however was around 400 years prior to that.

The Begining

The Astorium was originally a private research station owned by Bellia Morningstar a prominent researcher at the time. It was designed to observe the conditions of Vetrie with the hopes of one day putting a settlement on it. Bellia later was the teacher of the great Gelio who later inherited the station from her. Gelio eventually started to expand the station to accommodate his many apprentices over the years. Soon after he invented the Heliofurnace and Gelio transformed the station into his home. Many aspiring and seasoned researchers sought out Gelio and ended up taking up residence in the station as well. This steady build-up of researchers and their families eventually led to the station quickly expanding to the size of a small settlement.

After Gelio

About 150 years after the founding of the station and 80 years after Gelio inherited the station Gelio passed leaving the station to his oldest apprentice Augustine Hefinger. Augustine realizing how quickly the station was expanding called together the people of the station to form some sort of government to help stabilize the station as it expanded and was eventually elected as the first chief of the station. In the following years, the station continued to expand as more researchers moved there for the large community of scientists and the existing families grew. After 10 years Augustine stood down as chief and a new election started. Three candidates ran for election Hejilo Genkufo, Jxry Xonmerar, and Fen Geldevor with Jxry Xonmerar eventually being elected.

Years of Jxry

Jxry took Astorium in a very different direction from Augustine. Focusing on the people and developing the station as more of a town instead of focusing on the research that founded the station. These radical changes led the station to expand greatly in the decade that Jxry held office. Although many in the station were opposed to Jxry's idea wishing for the station to stay a research station Jxry moved on gaining the support of many others in the station. After he finished his service ten years later the station had expanded ten times. Now resembling a large town or very small city. This was the period when non-researchers moved to The Astorium creating a new dynamic as the researchers who had lived there now were not the only ones who needed jobs. This led to the creation of the Outer Ring.

The Zol period

The following decades are marked by the continued expansion of the station eventually leading to the Recognition of the Station as an official city by major factions. This is also the period in which the Civil Loop and the District of Belgor were defined. The Outer Ring expanded past the few odd facilities to a fully fledged industrial district as well.
