The King's Gambit
Located within the New York City mayoral residence of Gracie Mansion, the King's Gambit is a freehold managed and kept for High King David Ardry's use whenever he visits the Big Apple.
The nominal lord of the household is Lady Marion Sweeney ap Daireann, who maintains it in the High King's name and is it's master in all manners when he is away.
Why are the mayor, his family, and his staff so oblivious to the goingson of the fae right beneath their noses?
Well, in part this comes from the Mists leaving them unaware of any strange magics that may occur. The boggans who help keep the King's Gambit running also double as staff in Gracie Mansion, steering all those who might grow suspicious away from curious phenomena and recommending dismissals for those who cannot be convinced to stop asking questions.
In very few cases, these staff are Enchanted, and take their jobs VERY seriously in their care for both the mortal and immortal guests that visit their place of work.
Archetype: Manor
Manors house communities of changelings. They hold only one balefire, with changelings flocking to outlier buildings (or rooms) for access to the balefire’s Glamour, or the protection of its Lord or Lady. Manors are the second most common freehold, next to hearths, and are mostly run by nobles who act as the Lord or Lady of the Manor.
Benefit: A Manor grants its freeholders -2 difficulty on Etiquette rolls while they reside within.
Aspect:
The King's Gambit is located within Gracie Mansion, which holds parties and political events year-round. It is built on the principals of good hosting, impeccable guests, and well-mannered friends.
And what better game for erudite friends and foes than the game of chess?
Appearance:
Dark, moody colors, and antique taste that reflect Gracie Mansion's early years give way to stark black and white walls once you pass into the Dreaming. The people within either dress in bright colors to stand out against the background or in similarly monochromatic, high contrast colors to blend in (this is more usually the servants of the manor).

Quirks: A realm built on the political aspirations of the chessboard, sometimes the freehold has ideas on its own of how the pawns within its walls should move. Those walking the halls may sometimes find themselves yanked sideways, following the moves of a chess piece, as they attempt to walk from one end of the freehold to the other.
