Magical Hierarchies

History:

The weave of magic that comes from Hekate is foreign but familiar to all that see and use it. It something you always known, but were ignorant of the gravity of its influence. Every god and goddess of magic, every spell, and every weave all come from the same source, born of the canvas Hekate is travels to and from, allowing people to use her weave. The weave allows all to access magic, but allows her to continue pulling souls from the other realms to the Crossroads. The people that study, use, and/or create magic have a hierarchy to show the skill of the mages of the Crossroads. This is to both provide motivation, and to track the most powerful mages in existence. A mage, more than anyone, touches the realm of the gods, and because of that they are both praised and scorn. The vanity of man causes some to become wanted individuals, and the gods will hire patrons, mages, or one of the few factions of magical users in the realm.   Located in Constantinople is the Spire, the mortal authority on all magic, and they are charged by their archon to teach, monitor, and protect the sanctity of magic. By Hekate an her children, magic should be explored, but it should also be respected. From the interior of the crystal spire, the Convocation watches over the magical weave of the Crossroads. The Spire itself is some 600ft tall, and houses hundreds of floors dedicated to the study and teaching of magic, and is designed in a way that if a spell got out of hand, the spire would nullify its effects to within the floor it was done on. It truly is the echelon of what mortal mages have accomplished, and as long as the Archon sits upon the throne, it will continue to be the guiding hand of magic.
