Aban

Chief Aban Mubarak

The chieftain of a clan of kobolds living within the tunnels that run through the Lendover Mountains. Despite the isolated nature of their clan, Aban is quite confident and thinks highly of himself. He claims to be distantly related to the ancient red dragon, Marantaku, who was slain long before Aban's time. This alleged fact has led him to believe that he's somebody of importance and that his clan exists for a greater purpose.   That purpose being a deal with the Teme-Rasadan military to hold the line and prevent anyone from Caelsimil from entering the tunnels. They failed at this task miserably when the Beautiful Girl Squad passed through while on a clandestine mission. All it took was a few kind words from Industria Cellini and the group hunting down a pack of goats so that the kobold clan could have a feast. Upon the party's return several days later, Aban witnesses them setting up bombs to close the tunnels off for good.   Aban admits to crafting the bombs for the Teme-Rasadan military, not knowing that they'd be used the terrorist act that disrupted a parade in Florence weeks ago. He's promptly taken prisoner and dragged to the city where he's put in prison to await interrogation. The tunnels were destroyed by the bombs, leaving his people cut off from the world. With no hope of getting back to them, Aban vows to get revenge. After his interrogation is completed, general Rick Thaddeus makes the mistake of letting the kobold walk free.   On the day of Sharon's execution, Aban and a group of Teme-Rasadan accomplices set up a bomb within one of the marketplaces. As soon as the guillotine swings down on Sharon, the bomb goes off and Aban tries to flee the city before anyone can tie him to the scene of the crime. His accomplices had promised to reunite him with his people, but they were all subdued shortly after the attack. Aban was tracked down by the party and unbeknownst to them, Rikius Falenmir, and after an attempt to kill them, he was apprehended by Arnor violently.   Aban was imprisoned yet again, but this time, he had no chance at freedom. While the military debated on forcing him into servitude because of his skills with explosives, the innocent lives he took that day weighed heavily against his favor. Aban was executed several months later.
