Space Lift
Originally founded by James Carruthers to produce rocket engines for sounding rockets, Space Lift would expand to providing rocket motors to commercial launch companies. Following contact with the fleet of Admiral Kosos, Space Lift would obtain contracts to provide replacement drive components for shuttles and fighters.
Space Lift would also be dissatisfied with the presentation of Project Aurora and the diminishing of their role in the project. In 2036 they would join Thomason Heavy Industries in backing out of the consortium and begin constructing their own intra-system shuttles and transports. In 2039 they would contract with Thomason Navigation to begin construction of their own jump capable ships, marketing them as “ground to ground capable.”
Under the Terran Imperium, Space Lift would be the primary income of House Carruthers, maintaining a large advantage over both Industrie Spatiale and Thomason Shipbuilding in the short range shuttle and transport categories.
The company would allow its dominance in propulsion to slide after declining to participate in the design of the Titan class dreadnaught’s new drive system, as they did not feel the project was innovative enough. They would design the ion drive used by the Solaria class cruiser during the post Monsos War refits, but that would prove to be the last significant drive system produced by the company.
