Claudia Carruthers
The daughter of Claudius Carruthers and an unknown concubine, Claudia was born November 3, 2243. She would have no role other than as Imperial Princess during the rule of her father due to her young age. Following the execution of Claudius, she would be placed with her brother Tiberius under the guardianship of House Thomason and taken safely into exile on Remus.
She would briefly be courted by Emperor Constantius following the Monsos War in 2265 as he sought a solution to the ongoing Imperial Succession Crisis. As Emperor Rauschning was preparing to dissolve the Imperial Houses, Prime Minister Black advised that it may be in the emperor’s best interests to placate House Carruthers. While their political power was currently broken, they still commanded vast resources through Carruthers Heavy Industries and remained a potential threat. To forestall this, and to provide his own rule a connection to one of the Imperial Houses, a marriage was arranged between Claudia Carruthers and Albrecht Rauschning (Emperor Rauschning II). It was understood at the time that any children of that marriage may or may not take the throne depending on if they were fit to rule.
For her part, Claudia willingly accepted the proposal. She would comment after Rauschning II’s death that “there was no need to fight for the throne if you ruled the man that held it.”
She would die quietly in her sleep in 2338, an oddly beloved empress noted for her charity and grace.
