Marsh Rivers War
The Conflict
Prelude
Cataclysm that caused the Ash Age turned Thyre Sea Lake acidic and choked with ash. The karn who dwelled in the lake found thier homes and ancestral lake inhospitable and were forced east into the rivers of the Marsh Coast. Unknown to them, the south of the area was home to the river dwelling volokatchen. The karn, being realively unaware of the volokatchen pushed what they thought was a small, weak population out to the ocean and built their new imperial city Pshcholet on the stolen land.
The Engagement
In the beginning it was small skimishes attacks on smaller karn settlments in the north, being more nimbal in the current the volokatchen would attack from upstream and slam into the karn tossing them up into the free moving waters where their legs wouldnt have any purchase. The current would pull them, tumbling, into the arms of volokatchen downstream who, taking advantage of the disoriented karn, would tear into the soft bodies of the karn through gaps in carapace plating. Slowly, an unstoppable force, the volocatchen moved south river by river and destroyed every karn village they found, until after three short years they came to the River Ka and began the seige of Pshcholet where it is said that the massed soldiers of the volokatchen were so many that the waters of the River Ka stopped flowing, but the water level did not sink. When they attacked it was every volokatchen at once, scaling the walls with thier gripping and grasping tentacles, easily overwhelming defences. And over the course of two days tore both the city and it's people apart, until all the karn had been killed or driven out into the forest. It is said that Kal was caught and crushed with the massive stone doors of his own palace, but few were there to notice.
Aftermath
The karn found themselves skattered and without a home once again. Refugees made thier way back to thier way into the forests and found safe haven with the malgrove who sheltered in thier forest villages.
