Paravalous World Lore
Paravalous began as a world with Gods and Goddesses readily available and involved in the daily life of the people. They blessed the world with gifts, made roads for the people to travel, protected those who traveled out and brought the world together. However, this era of peace was ended by two evil acts enacted by these Gods among us.
First, Strongehold Kogen, formerly a prince of the Plerindunian empire, led his countrymen in a massive conquest westward. This bloody crusade conquered much of the continent of Acipincera, and was only stopped by the second, far worse act of God. The "Plague of Daefungare the Hunter" (after Daefungare Njeimdall, God of Death) was a strange time of people dying alone, when away from civilization and others. Hundreds of thousands of people lost their lives, only to be found days later, with one specific piece of their body (bones, organ, spines), gone without any incision. This brought Gorndu Sirrana (Goddess of Magic) and Daefungare Iraena (Goddess of Death) to sever the connection of the gods from the world, known as the Divine Recession.
Since then, nations have formed, crumbled, absorbed, but the plates of the world move still. The Republic of Arteasin recently absorbed a country known as Wolforde, while unrest begins to build in Mirefield, seeking to be rid of the Republic. The Plerindunian Monarchy has lost significant tracts of their territory to a new connection of city-states known as the Coastal States of Ornias.
And this is where we begin with the adventurers. It's been 740 years since the gods left, the population of the continents has grown, however, settlements are always in need of protection, and there is still the worry that an undeserving ruler will ascend to godhood and become another tyrannical god of destruction.
