Fae

A short fae may be almost indistinguishable from a tall human. Fae have a fast metabolism, meaning they are usually thin. Healthy fae will be muscular, whereas unfit ones may look willowy and almost unhealthily thin. Fae have pointed ears, the tip being 1.5-2 inches long. Their eyes can come in a larger variety of colors than those of humans, and they have no whites in their eyes. Slitted pupils are a recessive trait that are seen as especially attractive and as an indicator of the purity of the fae's lineage.

Due to the commonality of same sex couples, infertility, or third gender individuals, it is not uncommon for a surrogate to be used. A whole cottage industry has sprung up around this need, with fertile, uterus-carrying fae offering to be surrogates in exchange for a nice place to stay, food, and having essentially all their needs taken care of for the average ten months needed for the baby to come to term. Miscarriage rates are extremely low, as are abortions, as fae pregnancies are comparatively painless and not bothersome, since the carrier will still be able to function normally for the first 8-9 months of the pregnancy, and if the baby is not wanted, there is usually no end of parents willing to adopt. Fae twins and triplets are extremely rare, and usually only found in incidents where both parents have more human features (shorter stature, round pupils, shorter, less pointed ears).

The fae tend to congregate around coasts, although they will stretch inland to find viable farmland. They can tolerate greater heat and cold than most human, so a frozen place like Fuurender is nothing to scoff at.

Fae have a fast metabolism, so they eat more frequently and larger portions. They will usually have four meals a day; at dawn, late morning, mid afternoon, and evening. They will eat much the same things that humans will, however they tend to eat slightly less red meat and substantially more fish, as they tend to live near coasts.

Pointed ears, lack of whites in eyes, tipped eyes, sometimes slitted pupils. Very few fae can grown facial hair. Chin is generally pointy and face is overall taller than that of humans.

The northern central part of the Doslian continent, above the Doslian province of Omary. Also found in large numbers in Fuurender, where they inbreed with humans.

About on par with humans

Fae night vision is far superior to that of humans, particularly those with slitted pupils. Hearing tends to be slightly above human level. Fae have, on average, a greater capacity for magic, with almost all members of the race able to channel at least a small amount of magic, however the most powerful fae mages are no match for the above average human caster.

The taller the better, in all genders. Slitted pupils are often seen as a sign of beauty. Smooth, unmarked skin and a muscular body are also desired.

Gender is fluid in Fae culture, with all genders receiving the same treatment. There are no gendered pronouns in their language, and they have a hard time grasping the concept of the concrete genders present in their neighboring species.

Jewelry, art, and metalworkings are traditional gifts between potential lovers. Fae take courting quite seriously, and rarely do it on a casual basis, but only in an attempt to find a life partner or soulmate.

Couples will stay together, generally for life. There is no real concept of marriage to the fae, although some have adapted one from their human neighbors. A couple who cannot naturally breed may also take on a sort of third partner in the form of a permanent surrogate, meaning trios of parents are not uncommon.

Robes, dresses, and tunics are considered the norm for clothing. Wealth is often expressed through dress.
