Dwarven Society

I. Introduction The Dwarven Oligarchy of Amon-dûm is a society steeped in rich history and vibrant culture. Located deep within the mountains, this ancient civilization has thrived for centuries due to their exceptional mining skills and craftsmanship. Amon-dûm is a land of grand halls, glowing forges, and bustling marketplaces, ruled by the illustrious Council of Grandmasters and their leader, the Deep-King Drenlir.   II. Government and Politics The Council of Grandmasters is the ruling body of Amon-dûm, comprised of the most skilled and experienced dwarves across the land. These four families oversee the political, economic, and social matters of their society. The Deep-King serves as the ultimate authority, overseeing the Council and acting as the final decision-maker. A complex system of laws and justice ensures that order is maintained and justice is served.   The Ironfist Clan - The Ironfist Clan is responsible for the mining and metallurgy industry in Amon-dûm. Their mines produce the finest ores and precious metals, which are then crafted into weapons, armor, and other items of high value. The head of the Ironfist Clan is Drog Ironfist.   The Stoneguard Clan - The Stoneguard Clan is tasked with the defense of Amon-dûm. They oversee the construction of fortifications and defensive structures, as well as the training of the Dwarven army. The head of the Stoneguard Clan is Balin Stoneguard.   The Blazeheart Clan - The Fireforge Clan is responsible for the production of steam-powered technology in Amon-dûm. They employ some of the most skilled engineers and inventors in the land, creating machines that push the limits of what is possible. The head of the Fireforge Clan is Thrain Blazeheart.   The Silvervein Clan - The Silvervein Clan oversees the commerce and trade industry in Amon-dûm. They manage the bustling marketplaces and oversee the sale and distribution of goods. The head of the Silvervein Clan is Oin Silvervein.   III. Economy and Technology The dwarves of Amon-dûm are renowned for their mining and metallurgy skills, which have allowed them to accumulate vast amounts of wealth and resources. They have mastered the use of steam-powered technology, creating a bustling industry of inventors and engineers that continue to push the boundaries of what is possible. Trade and commerce flourish within the great halls of Amon-dûm, with merchants from all over the world flocking to their markets in search of rare treasures and exotic goods.   IV. Religion and Beliefs The dwarves of Amon-dûm are devout followers of Mahal, the Dwarven god of creation and craftsmanship. They believe that through their hard work and dedication, they honor their deity and contribute to the creation of the world. The dwarves hold many rituals and customs related to death and the afterlife, with great importance placed on honoring their ancestors and the legacy of their people.   V. Arts and Entertainment Music and poetry are highly valued in Dwarven culture, with many songs and ballads passed down through generations. The dwarves' unparalleled skill in craftsmanship is celebrated through intricate sculptures, ornate jewelry, and grand architecture. Sports and games, such as stone throwing and hammer toss, provide a source of entertainment and friendly competition for the dwarves.   VI. Education and Regia Education is highly valued in Amon-dûm, with many dwarves receiving training in various trades and professions. The Regia, magical talent, is present in 12% of the population, and iis usually practiced as supplement to their craft. Regia-based occupations, such as enchanters and alchemists, are highly respected but rare, and the dwarves ensure that all individuals are given the opportunity to pursue their chosen path.   VII. Military and Defense The Dwarven army is a formidable force, with well-trained soldiers and powerful weaponry. The dwarves have developed complex defense mechanisms and fortifications to protect their people, including intricate tunnels and trap systems. They are known for their unwavering loyalty and fierce determination, making them a formidable foe to any enemy that dares to challenge them.   VIII. Social Structure and Relationships Family and kinship are highly valued in Dwarven culture, with many dwarves working in family-owned businesses or learning trades from their parents. A strict class system exists, with social mobility possible through hard work and dedication. Gender roles are somewhat fluid, with both men and women holding important positions within society. The dwarves maintain good relationships with other races, especially the elves, whom they hold in high regard.
