Resembling Antarctica.   Older Outlander lore says it is the battleground between The Selkies and Rusalkas (which really is just the Russian/Slavic and EU war).   Although the Selkies won the battle for the land, the war left the surface ground barren and susceptible to frost.   The land is mostly inhabited by the Inlanders, whose nation is tunneled underneath the surface. The nation is mostly known for its extravagant beauty of icy coves that outlines the walls of its cities and the remainder of the Aurora Borealis.   The coolness of the land poses an advantage and allows the nation to host a research and storage unit (The Vault) not only for seeds (Global Seed Vault) but also for genetic materials pertaining to all extinct animals. The research unit serves mostly of biological genetics research a) cloning and synthetic generation of animals and b) growing crops. The latter is also done because of the historical lack of development in the land allowed for large usage of crops and growing crops in greenhouses in ice also proved to be the most efficient. It allows for year-round crop tending, easy temperature control to grow any crops (ice acts as a natural cooling system, and good insulators depending on the usage), and because of the easy access to ice as cooling system, the facility can be maintained to be a livable temperature for people.
