Passing of Iilea's Lessons
In areas where the followers of Iilea are most prominent, when a child is born, it is brought to the home of the most infirm individual in the area.
History
This was supposedly first practiced at the moment of Iilea's ascension, where the last soldier to give up his last breath called out to her to tell her that he had finally learned the worth of a life lived and the waste of a life lost in battle and she blessed him with a blissful death.
Execution
When a new child is born into a family that are followers of Iilea , they wrap the newborn and bring it to the home of the most infirm person of the town. This person may not be the oldest, but is the person in the town that is closest to death. The child is given to this person even if they are bedridden, and they describe their life lessons of devotion to Iilea to this child. This can take as long as the infirmed has breath and strength. It is not uncommon for this act to be the last thing the infirmed does.
Participants
Neither family is allowed in the room with the two individuals; only a priest/ess of Iilea is allowed. The families, however, will pray together to Iilea for wisdom, knowledge, faith, and for the passing of the infirmed. If a separate room is not available, the families will wait outside the home, regardless of the environment. When the infirmed has finished speaking, the priest/ess will call the family back into either the room or the house. Should the infirmed die at this point, it is customary for both families to clap in applause and each member to speak a thank you to the other for either the passing of a life to Iilea or the beginning of another life in devotion to Iilea
