Enchanters

As their name shows, they are specialists in enchanting items, weapons, armor, almost anything. They difference is that they are in the business of enchanting. Do not expect them to create a decade long enchantment, but something more to the effect of specific enchantments for specific time.

As an example; Gilfode knows that he will be hunting Winter Spiders and wants his sword to vibrate when there is one near by. He hears of the enchanters guild and since he cannot afford to have a sword made to do this or enough money to have it permanent he is willing to pay for a temporary enchantment, not to mention the cost of hiring a adventuring enchanter.

Gilfode brings in his sword and speaks to the enchanter, "I would like my sword to vibrate when I am near a spider."
The enchanter responds, "I think that can be done, but first I need to know what kind of spider and for how long."
"I will be hunting the Winter Spiders for the next few days."   "I am not familiar with that type of spider; can you give me a description?"
Gilfode gives a fairly detailed description of the spiders: size, color, distinguishing marks, etc.
"Thank you. You mentioned that you would be hunting them for the next few days. How long exactly, and will you be hunting during the night or the day?"   Gilfode chuckles out loud, "Hunt them by night. I may be brave, but I am not touched by Gorlod to hunt them by night, so yes, it will be by the light of day. I think my friends and I will be hunting for 4 days; that should be plenty of time to catch one."
"Perfect, we should have this done for you by sundown today, and it will cost 30 gold. Pay half now and the other half when you pick up your sword; is that acceptable?"
  "Yes, that would be great!"
Gilfode pays the 15 gold up front, and he returns just past sundown with the other half.
The enchanter explains, "Okay, your sword is ready. Now be aware of some stipulations. First, yes, the sword will vibrate when there is a Winter Spider within 50' of you. It may not tell direction, but it will let you know when one is near. Secondly, this will only work from sun up to sun down and on the sunset of the fourth day, the spell will expire."

Public Agenda

This guild is willing to provide impermanent enchantments on items for a price or even in exchange for spell components. No guild or guild member will (at least publicly) knowingly or directly enchant a person; this seems to be against their ethos; this does not, however, mean that it doesn't happen.

The enchantments are almost painfully specific and exacting in their duration.

History

The first official guild of enchanters is supposedly have been created by an ardent follower of Pelbon traveling with a group of young adventurers that did not have the resources to purchase have magical weapons created for themselves.
