Forge Founding, Part 2
General Summary
Finding the perfect cave for his forge, but unable to claim it, Necthan called for allies again to try again in approaching the cave that held demons, this time, more prepared for the extraplanar creatures.
Meeting Necthan at his shop, Alik and Prim rejoined him, as well as Rhal and Roger. Feeling more confident with their party, and feeling better prepared, they journeyed to the entrance to the same cave. Alik and Roger begin start searching the area with magic, noticing a few magical traps, as well as demons within the area. Moving in, the party was immediately ambushed by a group of Vrocks, bipetal vulture like demons. The party engages immediately, delving into the dungeon, forgetting the traps inside,
As the party fought into the cave, felling a few of the demons, a wave of exhaustion pour over the party, the true creature ambushing them. A creature falls down upon them, a predator demon called Shemhazian. As the party engages with it, it begins to start draining the strength of the party with its bite, and its many limbs and flight keep the party on its toes. It was a long and hard battle with the demon, however with Roger draining its available spell effects and Alik healing the party, it falls from the sky, landing on the ground. Prim, trying to leave the area, stumbled into a glitterdust trap, making her sparkle but hard to hide now. Once on the ground, the rest of the party was able to attack the beast, bringing it to its knees while Rhal and Necthan kills the other vrock that were still in the fight.
The party attempts to take the time to heal, and remove the ailments from the fight, however, the deepgnome who set up the ambush knows better. Roger vanishes, finding himself in a nightmare forest. The rest of the party immediately finds an ooze that could form its arms into blades, and begins to attack the party. The gnome speaks through magical means to the party, offering for all but Prim freedom, as they are not his target. Rhal speaks out, asking to talk. He asks what his target is, and the gnome tells them that his employer wants the people who betrayed him dead, Garth, Richter and Shiny-scale. A bonus was given for Covak and Prim, as the rulers of nations that took in servants that he had. Rhal offered to assist him in exchange for letting Prim go. With some diplomatic words, the Gnome agreed, but asked for a show of good faith, asking them not to attack the ooze.
The party stayed their hand, and the gnome came out of hiding, atop of a giant iron golem. He introduced himself as Yegrim, and said he would disarm any outstanding traps, and he would just need a moment to disarm any of the remaining ones. The party agreed and stepped out of the cave, with Rhal staying behind. Yegrim gave Rhal his descriptions for the adventurers he was contracted to kill, and Rhal swore to help. In exchange, Yegrim will split the bounty for those he kills. Leaving the cave for good, Necthan finally has his perfect spot for his forge. Roger and Alik offered help in moving resources there, and with the cave cleared, the party disbanded for further adventures.
