Rhal Stedrisk vs Crystal Spire
Charge: Faithless
Evidence: False faith (Amaunator/Lathander; see additional documentation), Faithless (Amaunator (cf add. doc., Myrkul)
Verdict: Mistrial
Opinion: Rhal Stedrisk appeared as a victim of a vampiric dragon called Llimark, slain while pursuing a gold dragon's hoard. Sources within the Three-Faced sect of the Lathanderite faith indicate that his faith was new. Seeing that the deceased would be returned to life, the Seneschal of the Dead offered him patronage in exchange for performing the Rite of Sealing upon the dead he created. The deceased accepted, and the Seneschal allowed him to pass by the remains of Myrkul in the Astral Sea before resurrection spell took hold. No doubt proximity to the dead god's remains had some kind of morale-boosting effect and "sealed the deal" to use Material Plane parlance.
Letter found in the Tower of the Morn, Elversult:
Sunlord,
The Dawnbringer Company continues to show results. They have recovered from their apparent defeat with alacrity, shopping around for dragon's blood to recover from the dark wounds inflicted upon them by the undead. The Order of the Aster sent two representatives, Corinna and her husband Jandar, former members of the Foes of the Fang, to assist. They refused to offer direct help as from my understanding they were nearly wiped out by the last vampire coven they faced and Jandar had to be raised. The Company learned much about dragon vampire weaknesses however. Solus apparently broke the noses of two of the guards to gain access to the Spires, but Ghentilara so far has not acted against him.
They also learned the secret password to the Catacombs of Yintros, where Llimark now lairs, from the Diaries of Rendergallis, and apparently, there is still an ancient lost spellbook still to be accounted for among the loot. However, little else was learned from the scholar Ilighast Chamnabbar hoarding all copies of the Diaries as Evette and Anathema bullied the wizard into giving up two copies (see enclosed Wanted poster). The pair now move in disguise throughout the city, but I have instructed the other monks to stay out of it. As far as I am concerned, this quest is still within the bounds of Amaunator's will, even if the Company has to break a few noses and bones to do it.
Interestingly, they met with a Bahamut paladin about the Dragontooth of Lareth they found in the Shadow Thieves' den and Malen convinced him to help by correctly speaking his name, Arendelonthos. Apparently the silver dragon had not been granted an exception from the Dragon Mythal protecting Waterdeep, but he was able to confirm the dagger's authenticity from the hoard of Llimark. Apparently the paladin and she were once lovers and she accepted vampirism as an escape from the dracorage. (It seems unlikely that her progenitor survives.) The paladin made the Company swear to slay Llimark, and in return he relinquished all claim to her hoard and allowed them to keep the Dragontooth, and also revealed all he knew about her powers and tactics.
The Company thus returned to the Heroes' Garden and removed the Lhestyn statue from the back entrance to the Catacombs and proceeded. I believe they encountered a trap in the water at the bottom of the well, but all seemed to have survived.
