Black Rain, Part 1

General Summary

Answering a call for aid from the Emperor, Grud, Tiff, and Rico arrived via portal in the Silver City, only to discover the primordial Black Rain had already begun. At the same time, a massive red glowing hemisphere of force surrounded the Cathedral of War. While Covak directed the people crowded outside into the palace, Tiff recalled information about the cosmic event, that it was pre-Creation and was the leftover residue of a godswar and prevented divine spellcasting of any kind. Rico used his angel clarion to heal some of those nearest, while Grud reveled in the chaos as the color washed out of their vision, leaving only the ominous red glow of the impenetrable nimbus.   After discovering the overwhelming aura and the involvement of Torrid Forlorn, they interrogated his old roommate and found Gort addicted to an extremely rare and deadly drug Luhix he claimed he got from Torrid's new companion, Yallathancia. The addict also claimed she had blue scales. After learning all they could, they managed to get him out of the city to Tiff's cohort Arel who healed him of the disease before he died. Torrid had sworn vengeance on the church after he was kicked out for stealing and had been rejected as a dragonborn candidate. An unfinished letter showed that Yallathancia had provided the means to his revenge through the use of mysterious magic Rods that the ex-cleric had been seen wielding, and a teleportation rug that had survived a fire he set. Using the rug, the party found themselves in a desert plagued by wild magic, and an ancient Imaskari crypt flickering in and out of an illusion. Delving inside, they found hidden keys, Yallathancia's journal with a clue, and a locked adamantine door. Solving the riddle, they were instantly set upon by undead spirits of the past, but Covak's hallowed banner kept them at bay. The door open, a portal was revealed that took them to the hidden resting place of Ozymandius a long-dead half-fiend dragon cleric of Tiamat. They found the dragons Ulhar'kethendia and her consort Vythaussir guarding the sarcophagus, and after learning that she was the mother of both Ozymandius and Yallathancia, slew both evil dragons and claimed their hoard. Now the adventurers need only take the final teleportation circle back to the halls of Bahamut inside the red sphere...
