Witness
This is a nasty condition, but it can lie udnerneath someone's skin for years. One will develop this condition when they see something beyond their comprehension, but behind something.
For exmaple, a artist who paints what they saw ends up painting/attempting to paint something they heard of secondhand or through a scrying glass.
Transmission & Vectors
This can be transferred from parent to child, like a geneti disease if the documentation is still around.
Causes
The first person who seemed to become a witness, was a Spanish conquistador in Florida. Any documents of his name are lost, however he went in a certian cave and came out several weeks later. Alone and mute for years afterward, the man tried to break his silence years later by carving what he saw into a coin.
Almost seconds afterward, the man swallowed the coin and legend has it that it melted in his throat and he choked to death.
There seems to be cases of this around the same area as where strange ourances happen.
Symptoms
Refusing to speak of what they saw
Nightmares.
Whispering to infants while sleepwalking.
Hauntings.
Breaking of glass and reflective surfaces.
Avoidance of still water.
Treatment
There are a few ways:
Fully forget whatever was learned
They are able to destroy the object that they saw the incident through (if seen through a clouded glass, or the whisperer is killed)
Rarest: Acceptance. They have accepted this knowledge and decided to live with this knowledge without spreading it to others.
Prognosis
There are stages of Witness
Stage I: silence. If they are the one who contracted it, then it is normal to expect a period of time where they do not speak. If inherited from a parent, the baby will start to cry quieter and some will only start to babble and talk much later in development.
Stage II: obession. If they are the original witness, they normally will drawing, perform, or try to communicate whatever they saw, however it is almost instantly destroyed afterward or the speaker will harm themselves (nonlethal). If inherited, babies will dig at their ears and mutter whatever was whispered into their ears. This stage is often forgetten in both cases
Stage III: recovery. The witness will be about to either fully forget the information they gained. Or they die.
