The Second Sundering became right after Fall of Tarrasque and apperance of Void Chasm. It caused magic and whole connection to Outer Planes cease to exists as magic shattered.

At the time of happening of Second Sundering, no one really knew what caused it as Tarrasque was slain few times in the past and no such record was ever recorded. Then few scholars came with idea that this Tarrasque was influenced by Void itself, that might cause this whole incident.
Theories were not confirmed but conses is that Void influenced Tarrasque to open the Charms to Void itself and its death unleashed such massive corruption, the connection to Outer Planes was severed, which caused magic itself became inactive.
