About: Pyrrhas
Summary
The myth speaks about a legendary pirate captain, whom everyone called Pyrrhas. It is uncertain if this was his true name, but regardless, the name, too, has become a bit of a symbol.
Word is that thousands of years ago, even before a proper civilisation was established on the elven planet, that a pirate put so much terror in the hearts of men, simply by existing, that even the kings and leaders dropped upon their knees and begged for his mercy at the mere sight of him. It's said that he was the one who brought the Night Elven empire together, through coercion and intimidation. Not long after he had managed that, he passed away. There's a lot of speculation about what really happened to him, but the general consensus amongst the common people is that an old lover an/or enemy took vengeance on him.
Historical Basis
It is certainly true that a pirate king such as Pyrrhas existed and that he was the one who terrorised the oceans of all nations for multiple millennia, established his name, whilst managing to avoid any form of punishment for his crimes, and then also somehow united his homeland's people into one empire.
The biggest mystery surrounding Pyrrhas however, is his disappearance. Many seem to think he died, seeing as he was never heard from again, but it isn't certain. And if he died, no one knows for certain how. Speculation is that it is something common, such as an illness, seeing as there are no accounts left over from it, which likely means that if he died it was of something no one wanted to speak of. And what is more anticlimactic for a hundreds-of-years-old legendary pirate than to die outside of battle.
Spread
Every single elf knows this myth, and the tale is often told as a bedtime story, to serve as both amusement, education and a warning to naughty children. Parents to this day tell their misbehaving spawn that captain Pyrrhas will come and take them away if they won't stop misbehaving.
Most of the myth is relayed as true history as well, seeing as a core of it is certainly true, therefore everyone of the planet has heard of the legendary Pyrrhas. Hell, even people who aren't of the planet have heard of him.
In Literature
Pyrrhas' story is so unique that not only do poets, writers and musicians native to the planet use him as an inspiration, but many aliens regard him as a true muse as well.
But next to poetry, there's a lot of prose written about him as well. Dissertations about his actions and character, scholarly inquiries into the truth, even fiction with him as the hero of the story. He's been very influential, not only in shaping the Empire, but its culture as well, even thousands of years after his death.
