Edge of Victory

"When arriving in the Victalis System, the first thing you'll encounter is a phenomenon known as the Edge of Victory. It's an overwhelming name for a sight that can at best be described as whelming. Although I suppose to the mundane mind it has a certain charm..."
— Extract from Travelling To Victory: An Exploration of Victalis System
by Peacekeeper V'Kly

Localisation

On the outer limits of The Victalis System runs an orbit which collects vast amounts of dust and debris. This collection of material varies in size from microscopic particles all the way up to pieces approximately 100 ft (30m) wide.

Manifestation

Most of these pieces are of little consequence to spacecraft travelling through the outermost orbit, but once every 159 hours, when the circumstances are right and light from the system's star refracts across it, it creates a rainbow-coloured cloud. The colours are caused by the energy from the light interacting with wild electric currents in the dust cloud.

Influence / Cultural Impact

The phenomena was first seen by the Peacekeepers who discovered the Victalis System, as none of those native to the system had sufficiently developed space travel, and it is not visible to from any planet's surface.
"It looks like the sky is dancing."
— Kuuusaa Lssuaa, Suuu from Succeed
The name Edge of Victory comes from the name of the system and was designed by the Peacekeepers to have patriotic undertones. It has since become something of a tourist attraction for those leaving the star system. It is less popular with those travelling to the system as there are a great many wonders between Victalis and the other systems and in comparison it is underwhelming.

I am laughing at how scathing V'Kly is about this phenomenon. It sounds like it'd be very beautiful to witness.

V'Kly is a very hard man to impress (and I sometimes think he likes being miserable about things). XD
