Sap of the Ember Bloom
Ember blooms are an interesting type of flower that have a dark ash colored appearance speckled with orange flecks that resemble embers. Found near volcanoes, ember blooms are an important component of many fire related spells and enchantments, their sap even more so. The sap of the ember bloom is an important component for combustive spells but must be handled with care as it can cause burns and blisters on unprotected skin.

Properties
Material Characteristics
The sap of the ember bloom is sticky and when the stem of an ember bloom is snapped it oozes slowly and falls in large drops. It's a pale a yellow color and it doesn't spread on flat surfaces, instead clinging to itself like a gel almost. It's very opaque in appearance, and must be spread very thin to gain a translucent quality.
Compounds
Ember bloom sap is often used as a spell component with its primary use being in explosive spells such as the aptly named Explosion as well as spells like Burst of Flame and Firecracker. Other applications include the creation of small explosives for mining, this is less common however due to the struggle of acquiring the sap and then creating the explosives.
Geology & Geography
Ember blooms and by extension their sap are found around volcanoes. They thrive off of the heat and it said that their seeds can only be spurred to germination by the touch of lava or other extreme heat making the cultivation of ember blooms extremely challenging.
Life & Expiration
When contained in glass airtight bottles, ember bloom sap is very stable and can be kept a long time without concern. However, if left exposed too long or if tainted with water, it quickly breaks down and becomes inert. If exposed to too much heat it can also spontaneously combust. Thus the best method of storage is glass, airtight bottles, in a cool, dry, and dark space.
History & Usage
Hazards
Ember bloom sap is highly corrosive and combustible. It is not to be handled with bare skin and it must be kept away from heat until use (if the use is to cause an explosion). Contact with ember bloom sap can cause skin irritation, blisters, burns, and scarring. If ember bloom sap gets in eyes it can cause permanent blindness, and if ingested it leads to death.
