The Long Storm

Summary

Following the war against the Old Gods the Dragon Rugheis was sent to the southern pole of the planet, to grow strong, feed off the magic that flows from the poles, and dispense it to the Dragons she brought with her. The ice around the pole was expanded and flooded with magic, creating the continent of Udosix and the mists that surround it.   The few Dragons that lived in Udosix at this time were granted power and strength, but the raw power of creation that surrounded Udosix culminated in a large storm across the new continent. This storm ravaged the continent, great strikes of lightning that cracked mountains, roaring thunder that caused avalanches and continued until the birth of one Dragon. The Long Storm was seen as the herald for the Dragon called the Tempest.    The Tempest was the first Dragon born in Udosix, the first Dragon born under all the power and strength that flowed through the continent. The Tempest was not elevated to divinity by Rugheis, but given the title of her Champion. The Tempest, master of Lightning and Storms, Champion of the Champion, the greatest and strongest warrior in the Draconic army, to defend Oxdara and her people against the God's in the event of Ragnarok.

Spread

The myth is well known across Udosix, but not beyond the mists though the belief in it being myth or historical fact changes depending on the culture and people. To the Dragons and Gyst Braˈrro they view the myth as fact, having temples and shrines dedicated to the Tempest alongside the Draconic Pantheon. The other cultures and people, especially those descended from The Tal instead view it as myth and legend, something the Dragons invented to strengthen the belief that in the event of Ragnarok they would emmerge the victors.
