Serpent's Eye

History

Established in Rularia's 1st era, 15 years after the small factions and clans in the Serpent Isles came together to form clan Stormborn, the new Lord Stormborn began construction on their crown jewel, The Serpent's Eye. Throughout the many years since its inital construction the city has been raised and rebuilt multiple times until in the years following the Draconic Resurgence the Lady Korlia Stormborn worked with the Dragon Wavescream the Sapphire Star to inlay protections throughout the city protecting it from storms, tsunami's and other destructive forces blowing from the oceans.

Lord Torin Stormborn

Lord Torin was the first Lord of the Clan, and the mind behind Serpent's Eye's inital construction. He built the city to be the central stronghold for Clan Stormborn, located on the central island in the small archipelgo. Clan Stormborn have throughout Ixmorian history been the smallest Clan, but the greatest naval warriors and shipmen. Torin constructed the city with large cannals connecting it to the coast, without being in the vulnerable position to coast attacks that other Clans could take advantage of.

Lord Randor Stormborn - 2914 BDR

During Lord Randor's tenure as head of the Stormborn clan, the city of Serpent's Eye was destroyed, being ravaged by a barrage of storms and high winds for nearly 6 months. The city's populace retreated into the underground tunnels and shelters, or left the island entirely leaving for the mainland in the few hours of calm in the storms. Afterwards, once people began returning to their homes finding them destroyed, Lord Randor set about rebuilding the city, building deep, isolated tunnels to drain off any flood water back out to sea.

Lady Ingrid Stormborn - 2245 BDR

Centuries later under the leadership of Ingrid Stormborn, the city was sieged by pirates in an attempted coup to over take the Serpent Isle under their leadership, removing Clan Stormborn from power. The city was the largest victim of the siege, many of the populace were killed in the attacks, with the city's small defences being overrun, leaving only the Keep intact and defended. The city's populace were either ferried out in the early attacks to other citys or the mainland, or sheltered inside the Keep. Clan Stormborn held out for 4 months against the pirates attacks and siege until their neighbours from Clan Stonestoke gathered in a large enough number to push across the water and route out the pirates, coming to saving Clan Stormborn.   In the wake of the attacks Lady Ingrid shored up the city's defences, building strong, defensivable walls, whilst still maintaining the city's wind and storm protections. She also carved and built large siege stores into the foundations of key buildings, the central Keep, the temples, and the garrision to ensure that if they undercame siege again, they would have enough provisions to survive.

Lady Korlia Stormborn - 256 DR

The most recent rebuilding of the city came about not from tragedy like the previous needs, but to prevent and protect against one. The Dragon Wavescream settled in the waters and shores of the Serpent Isles after the Draconic Resurgence. After taking over from her father, Korlia reached out to Wavescream and proposed a mutally beneficial exchange, Wavescream would lend thier magic to carve intricate runes and spells into the very foundations and walls of the city to defend against the growing storms that ravaged the isle's in the winter months. In exchange Clan Stormborn would provide Wavescream with a home officially in the Isle's, and ensure that any fishing, mining or farming efforts from Clan Stormborn would not interfear, and even offer portions of the gathered food and minerals to Wavescream to consume, horde or use in their practice.

I really liked how people and governance adapted the city's defences to try and prevent the next threat. It's also great that they turned to diplomacy in the end. Well written, bravo!
