The Kingdom's of Leoden

The Kingdoms of Leoden are situationed on the southern tip of the Isle of Itria.   There are Three Kingdoms of Leoden which together form Leoden, the people that live their are called Leodeans. The Leodean culture is a relative to the Leonian.   The Kingdom of Palenteth:   The most northern of the Leodean Kingdoms. It was probably established during the era of Kings. When Emperor Berthwallt Cedewain invaded the Kingdom of Palenteth withstood only for a short time. After the conquest and during the struggles over the throne between the Stierhorners and Cedewains the Kingdom of Palenteth broke free from imperial rule like many other kingdoms conquered during the conquest. The ruling family of the Kingdom of Palenteth are the Hydrasét's. Their founder Johanyn Hydrasét was a general of the Palentethean army and decided to renaounce the imperial joke and installed himself as King of Palenteth and High King of Leoden. He didn't hold the title of High King for very long for the Leodean Kingdom of Ingith had held that presteigous title before for many generations and they crushed Johanyn in the war for the Wolven crown.   The current king of Palenteth is Hamlyn Hydrasét. Their coat of arms is a yellow Hyrda of a navy blue background.   The Kingdom of Vania:   The ancient kingdom of Vania lies to the south of the kingdom of Palenteth. And borders the kingdom of Gardia to the south and the kingdom of Marqvardia to the west. Vanias history is one of heros, knights and paladins. The King holds the title of grandmaster of the knights of Vann the capital city of Vania. Vann is ancient and lies on an island to the north eastern part of the kingdom, just a mile of shore. Vann has high walls that are decorated in gold and marble. One of the most beautiful city on Itria according to some. The mainland of Vania are filled with planes and grassland filled to the brim with agricultural estates and fields of barley. This is represented in the Kingdoms coat of arms and heraldry of the King. A golden barley knot and a sword decorated with silver gold and sapphires. The Sword of the harvest its called and is said to have been wielded by the first King of Vania himself. During his Crusade against the Wolven. His name has been forgotten to history but he is often worshiped by many knights of Vania and the royal order of Vann. Some refer to him as King Vann and that’s why the kingdom is called Vania and the city named Vann, but these soruces are unreliable because the city is said to have existed before his ”birth” if he existed at all.   The kingship title is diffrent in Vania from any other kingdom. In Vania the knights of Vann, vote on the next knight king. Many older members are often recommended for their wisdom and are hold i high regard, but many times strength has been a thing seen as a must for a knight King of Vania. Kings such as Garéth Grayne, Sathwell 'the strong' and Munderic 'the mighty' is seen as great warrior kings that defended the kingdom during hard times. While kings such as Clain 'the Clever', Joffrin Jagarétt and Kalember Kane is seen as wise and long reigning kings which left the kingdom greater then it was when they were crowned. There has however been terrible and cruel kings such as Argrin Arfelt and Uladak 'the Evil'. Uladak tried to esstablish a primogeniture agnatic kingdom where his son Urmun were to inherit. He succeded for some years until both Uladak and Urmun were killed by Landin 'the Liberator or the Legendary'. Which is considered one of the greatest Kings since the ancient first King. The house of Landin has held the kingship title many times after this event and the current King Lyberitus Landin is a direct male line descendent of King Landin the liberator / legendary.   When a king is crowned. It is through a special ceremony were they are given a pommel of sapphire which is said to be the same pommel of the one of the legendary sword of harvest. This the new king attatches to his sword and that sword is now considered the kingssword. And will not part with the King until his death or often abtication or in the case of Uladak 'the Evil', pride of the sword and having the sword destroyed. Normaly the sapphire is removed during another ceremony in which the pommel of the new King givning his old pommel to the person who he might wish to succed him. If it to the old king and attatching it to his sword. The old King of course must not be dead during this ceremony and the new pommel is often a family heirloom given to the old King for safe keeping until his death and the new King getting the sapphire pommel. Kings often abdicated When they belive the next King will do their job better. The old King is then given a good income on to live out their life on, like retirement. The old King often help the new King with things and often acts as a steward and regent sometimes during a few months.   The mood in Vania is very great during this time. However some such as the houses of Uladak and Arfelt still are angry with the Landins and because of their heritage are forbidden to be elected as kings. At reasent times the current heads of these families are ploting to overthrow the Landins and yet again place a Uladak Arfeltian on the throne. The current heads are Urgen od house Uladak and Alius Arfelt. They have joined their houses were Urgens son Rathgar has married the daughter of lord Alius, Amelyn. Toghether the form house Uladak Arfelt and is a strong power in the realm of Vania.   The Kingdom of Ingith:   The current holder of the High Kingship of Leoden. The Kingdom of Ingith is ancient dating back to the establishment of the High Kingdom of Leoden it self. They were however not the first High Kings. This befell the so called Wolven Said to have been a race of wolfs walking like men. They were however defeated according to Ingithian texts by the first human king of Leoden. This man is called in the legends The Ulvman or Ulvmund the Halfbread. He was the founder of house Ulven the ancient house that still rules the lands of Ingith today. Ulvmund is legend to be a half man half wolven. His father according to legend was a wolven prince and his mother a human slave under the Wolven kings of old. Ulvmund had beastial features and a mane of grey hair down his back. This features can still be seen in the house of Ulven.   The current High King of Leoden and Ingith is Ursus VII Ulven great grandson of Lupesh the ancient. Called so because of his long reign of over a 100 years, outliving his son Ylvesh and his grandson Udran the father of King Ursus VII
