Werewolf
A wolf's senses (+2 perception) Troubles:A beast during the full moon, 60% chance of colorblind
Werewolves are the most common and well-known Weres . They're fully human most of the time, except during the full moon when they become a raging beast. Some have managed to master their condition, merging their human and bestial selves, but this type of werewolf is extremely rare. Humans can become werewolves by being bitten, whether the werewolf is transformed or not. Other methods of swapping bodily fluids, such as kissing also have a chance of turning the human.
Basic Information
Anatomy
When in their human form, they're almost entirely indistinguishable from regular humans. Hair growth is accelerated especially bodily hair growth, and Tapetum Lucidum appear around the time of their transformation. When in their wolf form, they weigh the same as when human, and have somewhat longer front digits than normal wolves.
Genetics and Reproduction
Werewolves reproduce primarily through their bite. Transformed werewolves are very aggressive, and will often maul humans.
Ecology and Habitats
Transformed werewolves prefer the open outdoors, and are happy in a wide variety of environments, from forests to wetlands to mountains. They do not enjoy the small, enclosed spaces of human homes, and can be very destructive to furniture or other inhabitants.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Werewolves retain the same dietary needs as humans, although they gain a new appreciation for rare meat and organ meats.
Biological Cycle
Werewolves transform 3 nights a month; the night of the full moon, and the nights before and after. Small changes, such as Tapetum Lucidum, and some wolf-like vocal abilities appear within 24 hours of transformation.
Additional Information
Social Structure
Werewolves gather in packs. The introduction of a newly turned werewolf to the pack can sometimes be tumultuous, but severe injuries are rare. Werewolf packs will even share a comeradie when in human form, even if they don't remember their interactions as wolves. Werewolf packs will generally have a single alpha, although some packs do have a mated alpha pair.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Werewolves are common across North America and Eurasia, but can occasionally be found on any continent other than Antartica.
Average Intelligence
Werewolves are of equal intelligence to humans, although the time they're transformed tends to be emotionally intense. This equal intelligence does not mean that they have the same social norms or thought processes, however. Even a calm wolf may attack someone.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Werewolves have a fully functioning vomeronasal organ, allowing them to detect pheromones better, even in human form. Their sense of smell is overall much higher. Loss of color vision is not uncommon in werewolves, about 60% experience at least some loss of red cones. Werewolves also have sharper hearing than humans, and can hear a wider range of noises.
