Dead Man's Blood

Dead Man's Blood is a potion capable of subduing vampires.  It is used as an anesthetic or a sedative in many settings.  Unlike most anesthetics, it effectively pauses vampire metabolism, shutting down their bodily functions until they process the drug.

Utility

Dead Man's Blood has a simple effect that results in a wide variety of uses.  The ability to pause a vampire's bodily functions without actually harming them makes this drug essential for surgery on vampires, as well as capturing criminals.

Manufacturing

The name gives away the potion's base; the blood of a dead creature.  However, most people don't know the other ingredients or process for making this potion.  The unaltered blood of a dead man will have no effect on vampires.
Inventor(s)
In 1718, Robert Hooke invented Dead Man's Blood, becoming the father of vampire medicine. In 1914, the recipe was improved upon by Dr. Edgar Swansea, allowing it a longer shelf life.
Access & Availability
Dead Man's Blood can be found in every knowledgeable medical facility, and is also used by hunters and enforcers.  It is not difficult for civilians to get ahold of, but it is considered suspicious in their hands.
Complexity
This is one of the oldest and simpler vampire-ingestible potions on the market.
