The Binding of Light destroyed our world but created millions more
A group who wanted to preserve knowledge created the library in the hopes that those within its clutches could forever feed the library new knowledge. However the library expanded too quickly drawing all into its claws, this was called the Binding of Light. Feeding on the feast of new ideas and knowledge the library quickly gained sentience creating worlds and hungering on people's thoughts.
