Bineth
The Tempest Queen
Bineth, the Dragon Goddess of the Oceans and Storms, was once revered and feared for her absolute control over the seas. Her rule was one of strict order and unyielding authority, with the oceans and weather reflecting her stern demeanor. Storms were her weapon, a display of her power when mortals dared to defy her or venture into her domain without proper reverence. Bineth valued discipline and loyalty above all else, believing that through control, chaos could be tamed. Her followers knew that her wrath was swift, but so too were the rewards for those who obeyed her commands.
When she appeared to mortals, Bineth often took the form of a magnificent blue dragon, her scales shining like the turbulent sea under a lightning storm. In this form, she was both beautiful and terrifying, embodying the majesty and violence of the ocean. At other times, she would appear as a tall, imperious woman with eyes the color of the deep ocean and hair that flowed like waves. Her presence always commanded immediate respect and fear, as even in her more human guise, there was no mistaking her divine authority.
Bineth's followers were a mix of sailors, warlords, and stormcasters—those who lived by the sea and sought to harness its power. Many of her clerics, known as Tidemasters, wielded the forces of water and storm, using her divine magic to protect their ships or to crush their enemies. Pirates and naval commanders alike worshiped Bineth, knowing that control over the seas was key to their success. Some druids, too, revered her, though only those who saw the oceans as a force of order and law, rather than a wild and untamable frontier.
Those enslaved to Bineth were bound to her will in both physical and spiritual ways. Many sailors who fell prey to her storms and survived were forced into her service, condemned to sail the endless waters under her harsh command. These unfortunate souls became little more than pawns in her schemes, their lives dedicated to maintaining her dominion over the oceans. Sea creatures and elementals were also subjugated, bound by ancient rites to serve her as guardians of the deep and enforcers of her law.
Bineth’s personality was cold, calculated, and relentless. She held little regard for individual lives, focusing instead on the broader order she sought to impose over the seas. While she could be merciful to those who obeyed her without question, she was quick to punish even the slightest deviation from her rules. There was a sense of fairness to her actions, but it was a fairness that demanded absolute submission and obedience. Those who thrived under her rule were rewarded, but they always knew that her patience was as finite as a calm sea before the storm.
