The Mimeoplasm
The plains and forests of Muraganda are filled with a number of dangerous creatures, each one of them a threatening predator willing to compromise at nothing for its next meal. The cycle of life is strong and unbroke here, as all creatures vie to come out on top, and the losers are consumed. But even this food chain has an apex predator- the Mimeoplasm, a creature so mighty and terrible that no other creature can stand against it. In the strange, oozing form of the Mimeoplasm, the strength of every creature on Murganda which has met its end surges, turning the Mimeoplasm into nothing less than a force of nature.
The Beginning of the Cycle The existence of the Mimeoplasm dates back to before recorded history on Muraganda, and all of Muraganda's people have stories relating to its creation. According to the elves, when the gods made Muraganda, they also made the first creature, and therefor the first life. In an act of balance, the world gave birth to the Mimeoplasm, the first expression of death. The saurains also believe the Mimeoplasm represents death, but they think that it was created when the first creature died, and that each being that dies returns to the Mimeoplasm. The scarwitches, however, beleive the Mimeoplasm is the opposition to their god, Silvanus, embodiment of life. They beleive the Mimeoplasm, left unchecked, would swallow all the world's life. To prevent this, the scarwitches seek to constantly ensure new life is brought into the world.
Power of the Primal World Whether a culture worships or despises the Mimeoplasm, al recognize the strength it wields. While sliding and stretching its way across the lands of Muraganda, the Mimeoplasm seeks out the corpses of other creatures, enveloping and swallowing them whole. Whether this is necessary for the Mimeoplasm's survival or not is unknown, but the ooze does seem to draw strength from the creatures it eats, its normally amorphous body even shifting and morphing to represent traits from its most recent meal. While this ever-growing strength makes the Mimeoplasm a terryfying beast to encounter, its true terror comes from its ability to take the shape of any creature it has swallowed, temporarily drawing upon their strength when it does so. Dire wolves, dinosaurs, and any other beast foolish enough to challenge the Mimeoplasm for dominance often cower when the ooze becomes a reflection of themselves, gifted with far greater strength and size.
