Spellheart Chimera
Treasured by Keranos, and blessed with the god of storms protection, the spellheart chimeras are a rare breed. Blending the head of a goat, the body of an ox, the talons of an eagle, and the wings of some tropical bird, they are among the majestic creatures of the skies. Though the feathers of their wings are without compare in beauty, hunting one risks the wraith of Keranos himself, and is said to bring 30 days and nights of terrible storms.
Spell-Bound Danger If Keranos's ire weren't enough, the difficulty in bringing down a spellheart chimera is a punishment in and of itself. Bow and arrows are the only known method of effectively hunting a spellheart chimera, because as their name suggests, these chimeras thrive around sources of magic. Some magical property of their feathers allows them to better resist the normal effects of the god's enchantments, and suck ambient magic from the air around them, enhancing their already formidable physical strength. The same property that protects them is also what puts them at risk, as many merchants and hunters will do anything to get their hands on spellheart feathers. Stitched into a cloak or coat, and worn over top of armor, these feathers not only appear glorious but offer unparalleled protection for those going into combat with spellcasters.
Spellhear Cloak Wonderous item, rare (requires attunement) Crafter from the deep red and blue feathers of the spellhear chimera, this cloak is imbued with the same magical protection of the chimeras themselves. Highly sought after by powerful warriors and kings, a spellheart cloak is a treasure often passed down for generations. While wearing this cloak, you have advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects. Whenever you succeed on a saving throw against a spell while wearing the cloak, you gain a cumulative +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls until the end of your next turn, up to a maximum of +3.
