Satyr Hedonist

The satyrs of Theros have always been known for their wild abandon and the ease with which they fall into rapturous desire. To say that hedonism is the natural philosophy of all satyr-kind wouldn't be the most exaggerated statement. But while enjoying a satyr revel has always been dangerous, the risk has always been part of the rush, and a result of the unshackling of restraining, rather than any evil inclination. In recent months, however, the satyrs of Theros have been hosting grander parties, on a more frequent basis, whose closing moments have almost always fallen into dangerous violence.   In the hours after the party ends as the attendees are able to move drag themselves from the ground, they often wonder how it got so out of hand. And the common link always seems to be a dim memory, of a small group of satyrs, who show up late and with seemingly no intention beyond driving the revel to a dangerously wild conclusion.   King of Revels Ask any satyr, and they'll happily explain that the philosophy of hedonism isn't a dangerous one. Hedonism means freeing oneself from societal restrictions, not social bonds. But these dangerous satyrs, the ones who seem driven to orchestrate a frenzied night of violence, seem to believe the exact opposite. Each of them talks of how, after a single glorious night, their eyes were opened to the truth. Each of them speaks of a single party with the enigmatic satyr known only as King Stranger, and their unending desire to replicate that night.   Adherents of Xenagos A few of the most wild-eyed satyrs found in the Skola Valley claim to know a little more about King Stranger. Having spent several nights in revel with him, they reveal this his true name is apparently Xenagos, and he lays claim as the lord of Skola Valley. While most satyr revels fuel themselves on the natural desire of their participants, magic is not an uncommon aide, particularly in the form of music. But Xenagos's own magic is seemingly unlike that available to any other satyr, a potent drug more powerful than the work of a dozen masterful satyr pipers.   Those touched by Xenagos's magic lose their minds, and either fail to recover, or come out of the haze changed by their experience. Those that return tp the real world do so only to spread the word of King Stranger.
