Nylea’s Disciple
For the centaurs of Theros, the interference of the gods in their lives is a rarity. Most centaurs give little thought to the divine, though some members of the Lagonna band might find an interest in religion in the course of their studies. But by and large, the centaurs choose to ignore the workings of the gods, focusing only on what they can control.
The major exception to this rule are those who choose to follow Nylea, god of the hunt. Some centaurs find purpose in Nylea's ideals of preservation, and a way to strengthen their already powerful connection with nature. Collectively known as Nylea's Disciples, these centaurs form an unofficial band of their own, bound together by a shared devotion.
Expert Hunters, Expert Healers In serving Nylea, most centaurs choose to hone their already formidable archery skills, seeking to emulate Nylea's own skill with her favored weapon. However, centaurs in service of Nylea also find a greater calling beyond the thrill of battle, in protecting the natural world and those in it. Members of the Disciples First work to learn natural methods of healing, and then with Nylea's blessing, begin to master methods of magical healing as well.
This dual skill set gives the Disciples powerful flexibility, allowing them to support Nylea's other followers as dedicated protectors. Helping to hunt down poachers is as easy for them as mending the wounds of their allies. While other centaurs, particularly members of the martial-minded Pheres band, often deride those who choose to join the Disciples, the Disciples themselves show a great amount of pride in both lines of work.
