Hammer of Purphoros

As the signature weapon of Purphoros, the god of heat, energy, and craftsmanship, the hammer Akmon is useful both as a fearsome weapon and an artisan's tool. In Purphoros' hands, Akmon is capable of felling dragons in a single blow and leveling mountain peaks in seconds. It can fill the earth with energy and vigor, birthing powerful elementals where it strikes.   Of all the Therosian gods, few are as willing and ready to lend their weapon to the hands of mortals as Purphoros. As a god of obsession and passion, Purphoros is often willing to lend Akmon to both powerful and worthy heroes, brilliantly inspired craftsmen, or even those who simply drive towards a single goal with all their might and will.   Magic Weapon The hammer of Akmon is a magic weapon that grants a +4 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it.   Random Properties Akmon has the following randomly determined properties:
  • 2 major beneficial properties
  • 2 major detrimental properties
Act of Creation While wielding Akmon, you have an advantage on skill checks made using artisan tools that you are proficient with. In addition, you can add half your proficiency bonus to any skill check made using artisan tools that you are not proficient with. Once per day, when you roll a 1 on a skill check made using any artisan's tools, you can choose to reroll the die. You must take the new result, even if it is a 1.     Bones of the Earth Once per long rest, while wielding Akmon, you can use an action to strike the hammer to the ground and attempt to summon a golem to do your bidding. The type of Golem you attempt to summon determines your chances of success. You can attempt to summon a clay golem (80% chance of success), a stone golem (60% chance of success), or an iron golem (15% chance of success). A summoned golem appears in an unoccupied space of your choice within 60 feet. The golem is friendly to you and your allies and obeys any command you give to it. You can use a bonus action on your turn to command the golem, otherwise, it defends itself but takes no other action. The summoned golem remains for 1 hour, or until you die or are knocked unconscious, or until dismiss it using a bonus action.   Crafter of Life Akmon has 3 charges. While wielding it, you can use an action to strike the hammer to the ground and expend 1 or more of its charges in order to summon a number of elementals equal to the number of charges expended. The summoned elementals appear in unoccupied spaces of your choice within 60 feet and must be fire or earth elementals. The elementals are friendly to you and your allies and obey any commands that you give to them. You can use a bonus action on your turn to command any number of summoned elementals. When not given a command, the elementals will actively attack hostile creatures within 60 feet of you. A summoned elemental can not move further than 60 feet from you, and if a summoned elemental is further than 60 feet from you at the end of your turn, it automatically disappears. You can use a bonus action on your turn to dismiss any number of the summoned elementals. The summoned elementals remain for 1 hour, or until you die or are knocked unconscious. The hammer regains 1d4-1 expended charge each day at dawn, as long as it is totally engulfed in flames.   Sentience Akmon is a sentient chaotic neutral weapon with an Intelligence of 17, a Wisdom of 18, and a Charisma of 16. It has hearing and darkvision out to a range of 120 feet. The weapon can speak, read, and understand Common, Ignan, and Terran. Its voice is rumbling and jovial, and its sentences are often punctured with deep laughter. While on any plane other than Theros or the Elemental planes of Earth or Fire, Akmon loses its sentence and regains it when it returns to Theros.   Personality As the favored weapon of Purphoros, the god of energy and passion, Akmon hates spending time doing nothing. When given any amount of free time, it will try to push its wielder towards acts of creation, especially creating elementals or golems using its abilities. In its own free time, the hammer often thinks of new jokes, which it readily shares with anyone nearby. Just as Purphoros once loved Nylea, Akmon is deeply in love with Epixix. The hammer will push its wielder to do everything they can to help anyone wielding. Ephixix, and if its wielder refuses, a conflict occurs between the hammer and its wielder. If its wielder goes directly against an order from Purphoros or doesn't summon an elemental or golem using the hammer at least once per day, a conflict occurs between the hammer and its wielder at the next dawn. IF Akmon wins a conflict against its wielder, it can choose to automatically return to Purphoros' possession, vanishing entirely and automatically breaking the attunement of its wielder.
