Fungal Infection
Make a melee weapon attack against a creature. On a hit, you infect the resulting wound with a parasitic fungus. In addition to the attack’s normal effects, the target takes an additional 1d6 necrotic damage and their maximum hit points are reduced by the same amount, causing the target to die immediately if this reduces their maximum hit points to 0. If a target dies as a result of this spell, the fungus quickly overwhelms their body, growing into a saproling under your control. Your DM has the statistics. The saproling has 5 hit points, acts at the end of your turn, and you can use a bonus action to command it. If you don’t command the saproling it defends itself but takes no other action.
At Higher Levels When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the necrotic damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 1st.
