Firesong and Sunspeaker

Deep in the Hurloon Mountains, the minotaur's which have made the rocky peaks their home for centuries are once again thriving. Centuries of turmoil and hardship across the face of Dominaria have equally affected the people here, threatening the traditions they have held for thousands of years. But the culture of the Hurloon minotaur's is again on the rise, with more young minotaur's choosing to stay in the mountains over traveling the world and lending their strength to others, staying behind to learn the ancient dances and songs. But while this cultural renaissance is owed to several factors, it may never have happened were it not for a pair of dedicated siblings.   Ancestry of Greatness Once known by names they have since discarded, the siblings now called Firesong and Sunspeaker were raised on the tales of their ancestors, and the incredible deeds they accomplished. Descended from a once-broken line of tribal leaders, Firesong and Sunspeaker lamented that the vast tribes of the Hurloon minotaur's had dwindled, and their people now lived in small, isolated patches spread across the world. Believing their hope to some day change this was little more than a pipe-dream, the siblings could not have known the effect they would have on their people.   Renewal of Tradition Always keen in their youth to explore the hidden caves and caverns of their homeland, when Firesong and Sunspeaker left their homes to pursue life as mercenaries, they made a point to visit those areas which most reminded them of home. Venturing deep into an unexplored ruin, the siblings were shocked to find the remnants of a millennia-old enclave of the Hurloon minotaur's. Left behind thousands of years ago as a stronghold, the ruins had been abandoned and forgotten, a lost birthright. Inside these ruins Firesong and Sunspeaker found records of songs and dances that the Hurloon and thought lost generations ago, including the powerful rituals which the Hurloon minotaur's once used to worship the fiery power of the sun. Foregoing their work and retreating to these ruins, over the next year. Firesong and Sunspeaker spent hours every day memorizing all they could, learning the techniques recorded on the walls of the enclave. When they emerged they brought with them a powerful tradition, once lost and found again, and took their new names.   Revile of their People Firesong and Sunspeaker returned to their mountain home, using their magic to call the first Hornsmoot in almost two centuries. There, they demonstrated what they had learned, calling for the recollection of their people what they had lost, and declaring themselves as the co-leaders of the newest Hurloon tribe. Intending to create one tribe that united all Hurloon minotaur's, a feat accomplished only twice before, their ascendency to tribe leader went unopposed. Organizing the remaining minotaur's of the Hurloon mountain range, they sent scouts into the far corners of Dominaria to tell their lost tribesmen of the new rule, and to invite them back home into a newly risen Hurloon people. The great migration still draws dozens, sometimes hundreds, of new minotaur's each year from their scattered lives back to the homeland. With little other choice for room, Firesong and Sunspeaker led their people to conquer the ancient Drawven Stronghold, held for decades by the giants, and claim it as their new capital.   Unbending Leaders Not all of Dominaria's cultures are excited for the revival of the Hurloon minotaurs. To the South and West of the Hurloon mountains, the country of Benalia and the elves of the Llanowar forest are both anxious to see what rises from this newly united minotaur tribe. Already the power of Firesong and Sunspeaker is undeniable fierce, both as warriors and as leaders. The people of Benalia worry that the Hurloon minotaur's might compete with them for resources and trade, and that they might try to expand on Benalia's borders. The Llanowar, howerver, worry for far worse, believing that the siblings might lead their people back to the warlike nature of their ancestors. The Hurloon minotaur's left behind their wars for the way of the monk millennia ago, but some elves still remember the stories their grandparents would tell them, of the wars that the Llanowar fought to keep the minotaur's at bay. Only time will tell which traditions the siblings choose to follow, and which they choose to disregard in their climb to power.
