Elite Inquisitor
Like many large organizations, the Church of Avacyn is heavy with bureaucratic bloat. This, along with the intricacies of its power structures and ubiquity in Innistrad's culture, make it the perfect sanctuary for those with secrets to hide. It is for these situations that the Church Inquisitors exist- to root out the corruption which might otherwise take hold and spread through Avacyn's Church.
Search for Intruders The cathars which serve the Church are its elite fighting force, meant for combating the daily threats which Innistrad's citizens face without cowing in the face of danger. The inquisitors turn their blades to more subtle foes, the likes of which, under the right circumstances, might appear as human as anyone else, but traffic with dark powers in their off time. Werewolf clerics who hide their transformations, priests with secret vampiric patrons, or even members of the Church who have turned to the profession of necromancy all fall to the inquisitors to seek out and punish.
Fighting with Flair Because of the nature of their profession, an inquisitor must be prepared at all times, but without giving away their missing to those they hunt. Because of this, inquisitors wear as few weapons and armor as they can, and bear no insignias or signs except under special circumstances. The only exception to this is the Inquisitor's Badge, which every inquisitor carries in a secret pocket on their clothing.
Because inquisitors tend to move lightly armed and armored, their techniques have little in common with the heavy combat styles of the cathars. Instead, inquisitors attempt to keep on the move at all times, relying on their own speed and reflexes to avoid the claws and fangs of their goes over steel plating. Some inquisitors practice these techniques to the point of perfection, becoming like a flowing river in combat, as entertaining to watch as they are deadly. Because of the nature of their job, inquisitors rarely receive recognition except from allies ad those who happen to glimpse them in battle, and so many enjoy using their flashy techniques and movements to elicit strong appreciation form those who do watch them.
