Elfhame Druid

During the Phyrexian invasion of Dominaria, Gaea unleashed a new breed of natural defender into the world, which came crawling up through the chasms of the earth to terrorize the Phyrexians and defend the whole of Dominaria from their evil. When the Phyrexian threat was ended, the defenders known as kavu remained, integrating themselves into the natural cycle of the world. And as the kavu are part of the natural world, the elves of the Llanowar forest immediately set to taming the beasts.   Centuries of History Hundreds of years have passed since the invasion of Dominaria, though some scars of the conflict still remain. In this time, the elves of the Llanowar forest have made great strides in their relationship with the kavu. Early attempts to interact with the massive creatures were unpredictable, as the kavu themselves were left with no certain purpose or role in the grand scheme of nature. But just as the kavu eventually settled into lives as fictures in the forests and jungles of Dominaria, so too did those dwelling in the Llanowar forest settle into a symbiotic relationship with the Llanowar elves.   Mount and Kin Not all Llanowar elves are trained to ride and work with the kavu. While the creatures are more intelligent than wild beasts, they are still primal animals, and working with them requires the delicate touch of someone practiced in druidic magic. Sometimes these kavu tamers work to persuade large groups of the creatures into docility, using them as beasts of burden and guardians of the Llanowar people. But certain kavu tamers instead focus on working with a much smaller number of kavu, sometimes working with a single kavu for decades, building an unbreakable bond of trust. These warriors ride the kavu into battle as mounts, and use them to help patrol the borders of the Llanowar forest and ward away threats before they can even reach the doorstep of the Llanowar villages. The circle of druids known as the elfhame druids blend these disciplines, learning to create strong bonds with several kavu at once, using them when their help is most needed.   Mastery of Proficiency The elfhame druids are well-respected by the other druidic circles found among the Llanowar people for their ability to balance the works of both types of kavu tamers. Over the course of years, an elfhame druid will work closely with several kavu, buildings bonds of trust and friendship, just as other kavu riders do. But an elfhame druid allows their kavu to run wild in the forest, calling on them only when needed, and are capable of even taming wild kavu they’ve just met, like those who use the kavu for labor. In this way, the elfhame druids are able to use different kavu for different tasks, seeking the help of the kavu which they believe, or know, would be best for the task at hand. The work an elfhame druid does with their kavu may not always be as excellent as a kavu tamer specialized in that field, but they never fall short of what is needed from them.
