Dingus Egg

A small crystalline egg which seems to be rather lacking in sparkle. When the command word is spoken, the egg glows and pulses faintly. Once the egg is activated with the command word, any magic used while within 60 feet of the egg will cause a bolt of magical energy to leap from the surface of the egg. This includes magical energy from scrolls, wands, and other magic items. Anything targeted by the egg must make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw, taking 6d6 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. This damage can not be reduced by damage resistance. Anything being worn or carried requires the wielder to make the Dexterity saving throw, and other inanimate objects automatically fail this saving throw. The egg remains activated for up to 1 minute each day, and recharges each morning at dawn. The egg does not target magic which is not activated while in range, so items with constant magical effects and spellcasters already concentrating on spells do not cause the egg to activate.
