Charmbreaker Devil
In the hostile lands of Innistrad, even demons and devils have been forced to adapt in order to survive, particularly after the rise of Avacyn threatened to finally wipe them off the map. No devil has adapted quite as well to their new situation as the charmbreakers, a group of fiends who have forgone their own natural magics in favor of studying the art of disenchantment.
From Magic Born While most fiends are born with some natural inclination towards magic, few ever bother to refine this gift, and almost none turn to actively studying and bettering their skills. The charmbreakers are therefore a rarity among their own kind, choosing to blend their own natural magical talents with research and study taken from human resources. This makes most charmbreakers, indistinguishable in appearance from others of their kind, a dangerous surprise for those who encounter them.
To Magic Drawn The most dangerous skill for any charmbreaker is their ability to naturally absorb other sources of magic, dampening the effect of spells and enchantments while also restoring their own depleted power. Even the magic of Avacyn's church isn't immune to this, making charmbreaker devils a dangerous opponent for cathars relying on enchanted blades and spears for fighting, or the blessing of priests to defend them in battle. When a charmbreaker devil sucks the magic from a source, the effect for them is similar to the effect of drugs on humans, leaving them giddy and high on the feeling of pure power. The effects are just as addictive as well, pushing charmbreaker devils to seek out and feed on any source of magic they can find.
