Centipede Demon
A vast distance and an untold amount of time away, there is a world which was borne from fire, brought into existence through the smoldering ash and choking flame. And as with all fires, this world eventually began to die, turning to embers and dust as it collapsed. The kingdom which ruled this world tried vainly to fight against the encroaching darkness, believing in foolishness their kingdom could live forever. In a land known as Izalith, a witch who spent her life mastering fire believed she had found a way to rekindle the flame of their world. She was wrong, in her hubris, she blended the forces of chaos and flame and gave birth to demons.
An Aspect of Fire When the witch if Izalith attempted to recreate the First Flame which birthed her world, she played with powers too strong to control. The result twisted herself and her daughters into monsters, and from the fire they created, life was indeed birthed. But this life was full of envy, hate, and chaos, and wished instead to hurry on the end of the world they came into. The creatures were the first demons, and their forms were monstrous and terrible, impossible to behold through their horror.
Vermin Terror Many of the demons born from the flame of Izalith were kin to vermin, their bodies crafter with the segmented legs, fragmented eyes, and scaly skin of insects. The creature known as the centipede demon is one of these, and its arms are little more than giant centipedes attached to its torso, and its tail the same. These appendages writhe and twist, snapping their jaws as if within them lurks a dark intellect of their own. Centipede demons are drawn to places of intense heat, hoping to return to that state of their birth within the chaos fires, and even burning magma is not hot enough to quench this thirst. An encounter with a centipede demon is likely twice as dangerous because of its tendency to inhabit volcanic lakes and caves, where magma flows between its legs and its reaching arms threaten to pull its victims into the burning liquid.
A Mind Overcome by Anger A fight with a centipede demon is likely to take place around magma, posing an ever present danger. But even without its fiery domain, a centipede demon is still a tricky foe, its insectoid limbs able to stretch across large distances to strike far off foes, grabbing them with their vice like pincers. The centipede demon loves to place these victims into the mouth of sharp teeth on its chest, which is kept hot by the fire flowing through the demon's veins. When pressed, the demon can also call up blasts of fire from this same mouth, which it launches at its enemies.
