Cavern Lampad
Servants of Erebos, God of the Dead, the lampads are darker spirits than most of the nymphs. Like their master, they are known for a dour outlook and a placid tone, one that treats all things other than their orders as equally dull. While the other nymphs are more likely to spend their free time in celebration or indulging in the wonders of the mortal world, the lampads prefer to spend their time in work or in contemplation of what they do.
Servants of Inevitability The cavern lampads are often the only servants of Erebos that a mortal is likely to meet in their lifetime, and even then meeting one is both a rarity and a terror. The lampad's major function are as divine hunters, spending their time tracking down necromancers who work against Erebos.
These necromancers are different from those found in the service of Erebos' priesthood, where blessings are given by the God of the Dead himself to dabble in the dark arts. In blatant disregard of what Erebos stands for, these lone rogues work to part the veil of life and death, uncovering secrets meant only for those Erebos finds worthy. These blasphemers often congregate underground, where they hope the proximity to the Underworld might empower their work, and the darkness of the underground might hide them from Erebos' sight.
Lead into Darkness The cavern lampads are blessed by Erebos to function without issue in the dark worlds of caverns and caves, and to speak with the creatures that belong there to uncover intruders. Once their quarry is found, a cavern lampad uses their Nyxborn magic to drive their master's enemies into ever-growing levels of panic, turning the hidden safety of darkness into a prison of madness.
Only once the mind of their enemy has been twisted and broken is the lampad's work done, and they are to bring the blasphemer back to the surface, placing them into the hands of Erebos' priesthood. There the final punishment is meted out, and the necromancer who once sought the secrets of death is used for the study and teaching of Erebos own faithful.
